Because we are probably going to be killing alot of pigs soon to rid ourselves of this swine flu, here are a few good ideas of what to do with the bacon-y parts of them.

5. Make Vodka

If you are sick of putting it on your sandwich, now you can have it with your egg cream soda. Kinda gross.

4. Cure a Hangover

According to the brilliant scientists at Newcastle Laboratory Centre for Life, bacon has essential nutrients that are depleted while drinking. So eat more bacon!

3. Squeeze It

Ever think to yourself, “Hey, you know what my sandwich needs, is just a touch of bacon.” Well its probably best you dont think that. This is kinda gross as well.

2. Make Business Cards

Nothing will make you stand out more than handing your client a piece of bacon with your name on it! Just imagine when all of the other cards are stacked up, yours will be the one that smells of delicious bacon. I guess the only issue is if the guy gets kinda hungry…

I’m really excited that this place has decided to make the move to Spanish Harlem! Good middle eastern food is hard to find in this area and they fit the bill. The main attraction are the “pitzas” which dont really standup to the hype. If you do want to try one, split the green pitz, which comes with a mix of leeks and scallions, as an appitizer.

The real winners are the sandwiches. Their merguez sausage sandwich is one of my favorite dishes, and for $9 its a great price. Also their falafel is crispy on the outside, and soft and well seasoned on the inside. The dips are pretty standard but well excecuted , although its kind of annoying that you have to pay for each individual pita. Overall, Moustache is a welcome addition to the small restaurant row that’s appearing on Lex.

What I would try next time:  Chicken Kabab sandwich

Its so hard to find good BBQ in the city that isn’t such a production. Typically, attempting to go out to a good BBQ restaurant in New York will mean a sit down dinner that will cost you an arm and a leg. This isn’t how BBQ should be enjoyed. True BBQ should come from a hole in the wall joint, like Green Apple BBQ. While I’ll admit this wasn’t the bees-knees of BBQ, they were able to provide a few surprises.

The brisket sandwich was moist and was smothered in a rich sauce (thats what you’ll get from smoking the meat for 10 hours). Unfortunately, the pulled pork sandwich while juicy, had little to no flavor but was quickly spiced up with the sweet and spicy BBQ sauce that’s on the tables. For the sides, the Hush puppies were fried to perfection and the maple butter that it came with completed the artiery clogging appitizer. The cole slaw was pretty damn solid while the Mac and Cheese may have just as well come out of a Kraft box with a bit of breadcrumbs on top.

Overall, while it doesn’t have the flair of a big box BBQ joint in Midtown, it definatly fills the BBQ craving if you order right.
